telling our children no will assist them in life to come, and they will be able to tell themselves no when necessary (unless it’s brownies for breakfast).
how do we find a balance between not being too much of a pest, or a “brown-noser”, and knowing what is going on with our kids and their education. Here are a few suggestions/hints; I’m no expert so take the advice or forget it they’re just ideas.
Ask ourselves how many opportunities for connection are we missing because we require people to call before they come; especially family.
“I’ve run into burning buildings as a New York City firefighter, pulled swimmers from 40-foot waves as a big-wave surf rescuer, and taught Navy SEALs how to maneuver watercraft in open ocean. Even so, I will tell you that being a stay-at-home dad is an intense job.”…” I’m not doing mom stuff-I’m raising my kids…I get irritated when friends announce that their husbands are home ‘babysitting.’ They’re not! They’re caring for their kids.
say to yourself: “I don’t need to do all this. I choose to do all this because the end results makes me happy, and the people around me happy. The world won’t end if I take this moment to myself, and let myself know that I am enough.”
