What’s To Eat: (the age old question)

meals  Let’s face it; gone are the days when you can spend an entire day figuring out what to make your family for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Heck, I live alone and I can barely find the time to plan one meal a day. With soccer practice, ballet lessons, karate classes, etc. who has the time? There are a lot of cooking apps out there but one that intrigues me is the Real Simple Magazine’s No Time to Cook. It is an interactive app that allows you to choose what you have to use and the time you have to make it. I find it easy, and the newest version is really helpful. Unfortunately the app is only available for iPad and iPhone. I like the app What’s For Dinner. This app actually will allow you to add recipes from your current line of recipes as well search online recipe sources: foodnetwork.com, epicurious.com, allrecipes.com and others. After you find a recipe you can add it to your recipe and a shopping list will be created for you.

Finding dinner apps, food apps, cooking apps etc. is easy these days, and they are relatively easy to use. While Suzy is taking a ballet lesson you can plan a meal and pick up groceries on the way home from ballet. A lot of these apps have grocery lists included with the recipe.

Try one out, and if the one you select doesn’t work for you simply find another one that will. There are a lot to choose from that are free, those you can experiment with before you purchase. I, actually, don’t buy any of my apps unless they are so good I can’t find another one that IS free.

Peanut Butter-Banana Spiral   banana-spirals-ck-549754-l

feel free to substitute any nut butter you use to complete this easy to make lunchable

1/2 C. reduced fat nut butter

1/3 C vanilla low fat yogurt

1 TBS orange juice

2 ripe bananas

4 (8 inch) fat free flour tortillas

2 TBS  honey crunch wheat germ

1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Preparation:

Combine nut butter and yogurt, stirring until smooth. Drizzle juice over bananas, toss gently to coat.

Spread about 3 tablespoons nut butter mixture over each tortilla, leaving a 1/2 inch border. Arrange about 1/3 cup banana slices in a single layer over nut butter mixture. Combine wheat germ and cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over banana slices. Roll up. Slice each roll into 6 pieces
